fond memories from not so long ago

As you may know, while we were in Uganda last summer, we used a different blog to post about our adventures. We had a friend with us and we weren't sure of the long term plan, so we made a blog that we could share during our stay.
I've been thinking about copying the posts over to this blog, for the sake of having our memories in one place. I knew that it would change the dates, but figured I would just note when the blog was originally written and it would work out just fine.
Today, as I lay in bed not feeling so well, I went to the other site to begin this process. Unfortunately, I didn't remember just how many posts we had done. In just a few short months we had 57 blog posts! I don't think it would be feasible to copy all of those over to this blog and we wouldn't have the comments that are attached.
As I sat here in bed, I began to read some of the posts and the memories flooded back. I realize that we have met a lot of people this year and they would not have read the blog posts from last summer. So, if you want a little glimpse into our love for Uganda and our adventures there, feel free to visit our other blog. There are stories of reflection, fun times, and even challenging times (like when Raegan had malaria).

We were so blessed to stay at New Hope! I often think of the people who became part of our lives, from the little bitty ones to the adults. They all have a special place in our heart and we hope to visit them from time to time once we're on the ground in Uganda.

Here we are pictured with our beloved Pacific Family. We were blessed to join them for family devotions, game night, Saturday football (soccer) games, and many other daily adventures. They were our adoptive family during our stay at New Hope and we will cherish them always.

While we were at New Hope, there was one particular thought that came to mind several times: perhaps God brought us to New Hope to provide a vision of what can be. You see, New Hope began 25 years ago with there first little group of orphans and students in the primary school. Now, they have so many aspects of their ministry that I won't even try to list them all here. The community at Kasana is an amazing place full of love and life. As we prepare to move to Uganda to help start a new community, we know that there is much work to be done. I'm sure that there will be days that are harder than we can imagine and times when we aren't sure any progress is being made, but God gave us living proof of what can happen in 25 years. He allowed us to live in it and treasure it; and on those hard days we will be able to cling to the hope of what is yet to come.
