Where did the weekend go?

This weekend went by so fast! If you were one of the many people we met at World Cultures Weekend, thank you so much for taking the time to learn about our ministry!

The boys went to their last youth retreat, at least for any foreseeable future. They really enjoyed the time away. After we dropped them off on Friday, Raegan, Floyd, and I went to dinner with a lovely couple that we had not met before. It was fabulous food and conversation. We were so blessed to meet them!

The three of us also participated in World Cultures Weekend at our home church, Christ Fellowship. We had the opportunity to share a short presentation about our ministry with around 40 people. We also got to speak at the banquet on Saturday evening. That was fun because we were specifically sharing ways that God has been providing for us throughout this journey. We did not rehearse what we were going to say, but instead we just took turns sharing about different parts of the journey. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect once again on all the amazing things the Lord has done to get us on the ground in Uganda.

At church today we were able to share with a few people after each service. Pastor Bruce Miller delivered an excellent message on sexuality. I love his heart for honoring the Lord and living according to God's word and nothing else. He approached a very heavy topic and did so with great humility, honesty, passion, and compassion. It was a strong message in many ways and was a great reminder of one of the first things that drew us to Christ Fellowship 8 years ago - Bruce's sermons coming from the Word of God (to listen to any of his messages from the sexuality series or on any other topic, visit this page).

On Sunday evening, we enjoyed great fellowship and discussion finishing up our time in 1, 2, & 3 John with our life group. We love our group and are so grateful for their friendship. Our time together is like water in a desert. That might sound extreme, but I really do treasure our time together and look forward to it every week. If your church has some sort of small group ministry, I encourage you to seek a group for yourself. It can be hard to find a group and to feel like you fit in, but the effort is definitely worth it.

Also, Pastor Makumbi Johnson is in town and we were able to visit with him. He was the main speaker at the banquet on Saturday.

Like I said, a busy weekend, but full of blessings!
