Attending a beautiful wedding in Uganda!!

Back in January, two of our friends from the Victory Living Word Mass Choir had their wedding announced. It seems like not so long ago, but sure enough the wedding was today. We were so blessed to be able to attend the wedding of Rogers & Stella. Of course, many friends wonder what a Ugandan wedding is like, so let us show you in pictures.
When we arrived at the church, Pastor Johnson's oldest daughter and 4 month old grandson Emma (short for Emmanuel) were the first to greet us.

I caught him just as he was considering a good cry. :)

The wedding was scheduled for noon.
This pic was taken at 12:05.

This pic was taken at 12:30.

This one was at 1pm.
1:20 and the groom makes an entrance with his men.
The crowd is bigger and we have some dancing and singing as we wait for the Bride's entrance.

The procession begins!!!

Here comes the bride!

Aren't they adorable!?!?

Pastor Makumbi had the honor of marrying them.
After the ceremony, we had the opportunity to get a photo with the beautiful couple! What an honor!
This is a snapshot of the photo. :)
And of course we need a picture of my son, Brian, with Floyd and Troy.
Next, we went for the reception. It was hosted outside the home of a born again couple not far from the church.
After the bridal party danced their way in, the Bride and Groom did the same.
They added sparklers (like fireworks) to the cakes and then there was a count down to set off a big burst of confetti. The cake is served at this point in the reception.

While we enjoyed the festivities, we made a new friend.

Our little friend took this photo.
This young dance group was part of the entertainment.

Our friends, Spoken Truth, were also entertaining at the wedding. This is the group that Floyd co-wrote and recorded a song with back in 2011. The song has played on the radio and TV since then. Steven surprised Floyd by announcing to everyone that Floyd was there and would do the song with them live. Fortunately, he remembers all the words. He had a great time singing with the Steven again and it was a fun time for everyone.

The dance group came back up and did some impressive moves.

Then the wedding party went to change into their second outfit for the final portion.

Again, they came in dancing, but this time led by the happy couple!

They danced over to the serving table and received their food. Then we were invited to line up for food in sections. After eating, the couple gives away cakes to certain people, their families, the wedding committee, etc. Finally, the couple and wedding party stand in the middle and everyone lines up to congratulate them and give their gifts. After that, the dancing begins!
