a profound statement

Last night I attended a show in Keller, TX. The main act was a Christian comedian, Chonda Pierce, and she was accompanied by two ladies from Nashville, TN. One of the two ladies took a little time to share about herself and her past.

She is the oldest sister in a family of 19 children (not the Duggars). She told the story of how each child came to be in the family. It was herself and 2 brothers originally and the parents wanted to adopt. Over time, they adopted the rest of the 19 children. They had a set of twin boys, a set of sisters, a set of four brothers, a set of 4 siblings (brothers and sisters), and so on until it made 19. They were from various countries around the world.

As an adult, she was sitting with her father one day and asked him why he did it. How did they end up with 19 kids? His answer is so simple and yet so profound and uncommon:

I was never very good at saying no when I saw a need that I could fill.

That answer is awesome!

Just ponder that. Let it soak a while.

The need is so great, so vast that it can be paralyzing, but just focus on the needs that you can fill. This man changed more than a dozen lives and it will impact generations.
