a bride's maid...

You may recall that back in September Raegan was supposed to be a bridesmaid in the wedding of two of our Ugandan friends. That was September 5th. Due to scheduling, a computer virus and other issues, we just now got pictures to share.

Raegan was the youngest of the bridesmaids and a little nervous because in Ugandan weddings, the wedding party does a lot of dancing and they where some crazy shoes. Fortunately, the other ladies helped her out and she had a good time. Here are some photos:
It really started the night before at the nail salon.
Then at 6am, the girls went to the hair salon, where Raegan got her first weave!

The photographer snapped a photo of me and Raegan at the salon (I went along because we didn't want her out by herself).

The party comes in 2x2 dancing the whole way. :)
Pastor Makumbi and his wife, Anna, are the parents of the groom. (I love her Gomesi (traditional dress of the Baganda tribe), it's beautiful)

showing off the shoes!

These guys are all cool, but I'd say the little guy wins in this photo! He's too cute!
We were served the traditional meal.
Somewhere after half-way through the reception everyone changes into dress number 2 - the bride and the bridesmaids. :) We had Raegan's made a little more modest in the bodice (she is the only minor). Also, by this point it was nearly 10 pm and it was a noon wedding, so you can see that she had dumped the heels. :)
Raegan's favorite color is purple, so Olivia insisted that the tailor make her dress all purple with no yellow. Our friend Joan decided to do the same because "yellow makes her sick". LOL!
Everyone hands their gift to the bride.
Raegan was excited to see her little friend Joy at the wedding. We only see her when we visit the church in the city and on the church planting trips in July.
On a fun side note, when we left the wedding our friend Emanuel asked for a ride home. It was a good thing because we got less than 10 minutes down the road and our van died. We were stuck on the side of the road, in the dark, at nearly midnight and we couldn't say exactly where we were. We called our mechanic friend and Emanuel told him where we were. He came and figured out that the van would have to be towed. So, we called our friend Davis who is a driver and he came to pick us up. He had another small group in his van, but they let us pile in with them without a single complaint. :)
