Gifts were received with great joy!!

We are almost half-way through the first term and I've been so busy! I feel like I say that a lot, but the fact is, it's true. I know it's true for most people, so I'm no exception. I just prefer to post stories as quickly as possible, but for the last 5 weeks, they are happening too fast.

Back in January, a friend and ministry partner in the US put together back-to-school gift packages for all of our children. Of course, at that time we didn't realize how many new students we would have. She sent enough packages for 110 students. At the pre-school where her children attend, they had the students decorate large white envelopes to put the gifts in.

As it turned out, we have 146 students, so the 110 gifts would not suffice. Of course, God provided for that in advance. The previous year, the same friend had put together 50 zipper pouches (the pencil pouches that you put in your 3-ring binder). She had filled those with supplies, stickers, and other small things. We brought them back from the US when we came in November. Since school was ending at that time, we decided to hold onto them until this school year. Fortunately, that worked out perfectly. We used those nice pencil bags as the back-to-school gifts for our oldest two classes, P5 and P6. It was a great way to give the older kids a little something different than the younger ones, but not so different that anyone felt negative about it.

So, here are some photos of the kids receiving their gifts.

A week or two after the kids had received their gifts, they were doing a questionnaire in class. The last question asked them if there was something that they really liked, something that was interesting, or fun. Several kids put the day that they were given the gifts. :)

It's been a few weeks now and I still see several kids everyday with their bandanna or headband or wristbands. Of course, they also use their pencils and other fun supplies.
