What's the plan???

We announced a couple weeks back that we bought our plane tickets to Cambodia. It's a big step of faith, but we feel confident that this is the timeline that the Lord put on our hearts and he'll provide everything we need by the time we get on that plane. We could wait until everything is in place to make any decisions, but that just doesn't seem right. If a farmer waits until the rain comes to start planting, he's already behind and the harvest won't be as bountiful.

Our ministry, Agape International Missions, has a staff conference in February. It will be a great time to meet everyone from the various aspects of the ministry and gain the knowledge that will be shared at the conference. In addition to the conference, we have to find a house to rent, get motos (motorbikes), learn our way around, and start language training. It seems that the Lord has put all the pieces on the calendar himself because they are better placed than we could have done.

We'll move to Cambodia with 6 days before the conference. We're told you can find a place and move-in in about 3 days. Most homes are fully furnished, so that also makes moving in much easier. After the week long conference, we'll have 2 weeks to work on getting settled and learn our way around. Then, we'll start a 2 week kick-starter class on the language, Khmer. The boys will go to this 2 week class with us because it is designed to give you a basic understanding of the language that will help you in getting around and communicating in basic everyday situations.

After that 2 week course, the boys will resume their usual home school process and Floyd and I will begin full time language training. We know that we'll have at least 10 weeks of full time language class. During that time, we'll also be visiting the various parts of the ministry, finding a church home, learning more about the country, making friends, and practicing our new language skills with all the local people that we'll be meeting.

After the first 10 weeks, we may switch to part-time language school and start our work in the ministry or we may continue in full time language training for another session or two. To even think that the next 3 months will go as planned is pretty crazy, so we aren't really thinking too specifically beyond that at this point.

With an overview in place, we'll just keep taking one step at a time and asking the Lord to direct everything.
