unusual blessings...

I didn't share it with a lot of people, but one of my specific prayer requests this year was that the boys would make friends here in Phnom Penh.
Less than a week after we moved into our house, the boys were getting connected in multiple ways.
Our neighbor straight across the street is 17 years old and her name is Micah. I first met her mom and then within 24 hours, we had met the entire family. Micah asked the boys if they'd like to go for a walk in the evening. On the walk, she invited them to her youth small group that meets on Saturday nights. One week they went rock climbing and bouldering, another week they just met at the church and then went to a local pizzeria. It's been great for both of them.

We are actually within minutes of an international school called Logos. In fact, many people working at the school are in our neighborhood, including the Athletic Director. He lives diagonal from us. The soccer season happened to be starting.  I told the coach that our boys had no soccer experience other than playing with the kids in the village in Uganda but he said it was no problem. They had 3 open spots on the team, so they'd be glad to have the boys join. They go to practice 3 days a week and have had a couple games already. It's great exercise for them and a great connection to people their age.

In addition, everyone in our ministry has welcomed them. Although there aren't really people their age within the ministry (most people have adult children, very small children, or no children), the boys have been included in dinners, a birthday party, and other random things. It's been really great!

Finally, this is the son of our friends', the Phifers. He enjoys playing video games and other crazy things with the boys.  We recently got to join in celebrating his birthday.

Due to their similar level of craziness, him and Tyler definitely find ways to entertain themselves.
