Road engineering at its finest!

This is the main road from our side of town to all the others. We can't go very many places without using this road. As you head toward the city center, you come upon the construction. These electricity poles were already in place, so they're just building the road around them.

Most of them are on one side, so they're not too dangerous. Although, if you're on a bike or moto and have to stay to the side to avoid cars, it can be dangerous.

However, at one point, the road curves, or maybe the poles curve, I'm not sure which, but suddenly the poles cross the street. You actually have to drive between poles and then they're suddenly on the left side of the street.
You'd think this pole is across the street or somewhere that just puts it in the picture in a funny way, but it actually is in the road just ahead of  a few cars.
You have to drive around it. And I don't even want to imagine if a bike or moto got forced too close to that hole. A tire in that square hole would not end well.

Just a little further up you have to go between the pole and the median to make a left hand turn.
While I joke a little about how this actually got approved, it's a little scary. Floyd and I drove home last night and you could not see those poles at all. If someone had not gone that way before, or they were just distracted, it is a major concern. I've head rumor that last week a moto driver did crash into one of them and did not survive. I don't know if it's true, but I hope it doesn't become a common problem.

It definitely makes you aware of things to be grateful for that you might not have ever thought of...like civil engineers, development regulations, and all sorts of similar things. :)
